Make a homemade greeting card more exciting and distinctive by turning it into a pop-up card. There's no special paper or tools required to create this card. Design your pop-up card for any occasion. Here's how.
Instructions
1. Fold two pieces of the same size heavy card stock or construction paper in half. One is your outer card, and the other is the inner cutout card.
2. Cut a 1 1/2 inch strip in the inner card's center. Make two slits down from the fold to make the strip.
3. Fold the strip inward so that the fold is inside the card and the card has a rectangular hole in the middle of the fold when closed. This is the base to use when gluing your pop art into the card.
4. Use a glue stick to coat the front and back of the cutout, making sure the slit is still folded in and not covered with glue.
5. Place the outer card on top of the glued inner card. Cover the cutout portion of the card with glue. All sides and folds should line up. If they don't, trim the non-folded edges so they are the same.
6. Open the card with the glued piece in place and add your pop art. Using another piece of heavier paper, cut out any shape, picture or design. Use the glue stick to attach the cutout to the tab sticking out of the fold of your card.
7. Embellish with glitter, stickers, personal words or any other decorative element you like to finish the pop-up greeting card.
