Get Paint Off Your Hands

Remove paint from your hands while it remains wet for best results.

Paint inevitably finds its way onto your hands when you are working with it. When the paint contacts the skin, it may look impossible to remove. Water-based paints will wash off the skin without much effort, but oil-based paints require more attention. The paint will often wear off by itself, but it can cause skin irritation. Remove the paint as soon as possible with items in your home to keep your skin healthy.

Instructions

1. Wash your hands with a mild liquid dish soap and warm water. This will remove water-based paint from the hands and it will help to loosen oil-based paints. Wash your hands to remove as much of the paint as possible.

2. Dry your hands to remove any excess water. Apply baby oil to the paint on your hands.

3. Rub your hands together to apply the oil onto the paint. Allow it to remain on your skin for two to three minutes. Reapply the baby oil to your hands to ensure that it penetrates the paint.

4. Wipe the excess oil from your hands with a paper towel to remove the baby oil and loosened paint. Wash your hands with soap and warm water to remove any remaining residue. Reapply the baby oil if the paint remains.
