Honor A Mother'S Life In Letters Or Poems

Show your mother how much you appreciate her care.

Mothers take on the difficult task of raising children, molding them from innocent babies to the adults they will one day become. Many people, forever grateful for the efforts their mothers put into bringing them up, choose to honor the women who were so pivotal in their lives. If seeking a way to honor your mother's life and all that she accomplished, consider putting pen to paper and celebrating her with letters or poetry.

Instructions

1. Ask loved ones to write letters about the mother you wish to honor. Instead of just composing a letter yourself, get others involved by asking them to pen letters and creating a letter collection. Tell friends and family members who care for your mother about your desire to honor her. Ask them to write letters in which they recount good times they have had with your mother or wonderful things she has done for them.

2. Deliver one letter a day for a week. Collect the letters and choreograph their delivery. Place them each in the mail one day apart, allowing her to receive a different letter each day. Or, if she lives nearby, stop by her mailbox each day and deliver the letters, one at a time, by hand.

3. Compose an original poem about your mother. Dust off your poetry skills and write an ode to mom. Compose a free verse poem, allowing yourself to craft a poetic piece that is reflective of your mom without the constraint of rhyming. When seeking inspiration for your poem, look back at old photo albums and seek a picture of you and mom together, perhaps one in which she is holding you as a baby. Look at this picture as you write your piece, trying to capture the emotions present in the image in your poem.

4. Place a polished copy of the finished poem, along with the photo that inspired it --- if you used an image for inspiration --- in a frame. Present the framed writing to your mother to show her how much she means to you.
