Tremclad paint is used to paint cars.
Tremclad paint is a type of paint used for painting cars. A new paint job on a car can add beauty and elegance to the car for minimal costs. An old car can be made to look brand new. With a little time and patience, any car owner can paint a car with Tremclad paint.
Instructions
1. Remove any stickers, emblems and decals from the car so they do not get painted over. Take off all door handles and all tail lights and headlights also. Wash the car thoroughly with soap and water to remove any grease, dirt and oil that is on the car. Blow off any dust between the seams around the doors and windows with an air blower.
2. Sand over the entire car with 320-grit sandpaper. Sand until there is a completely smooth finish, and once again blow away any dirt and debris with the air blower. Wash the car again thoroughly to remove any excess dirt.
3. Pour lacquer thinner onto a paper towel and wipe down the car to get off the tough oils and greases. Go over the entire area of the car thoroughly. Stick painter's tape around the outside edges of the car and over the seams around the doors and windows. This will prevent paint from leaking into the car.
4. Pour the primer into the tank of the paint gun and pull on the lever to begin spraying the car. Start with the hood and work toward the back of the car in sections. Refill the tank if necessary and apply an entire coat on the car. Wait at least four hours before painting.
5. Fill the paint gun with Tremclad paint of the desired color. Pull on the lever and begin spraying in the same manner as the primer was sprayed. Start with the hood and work in sections toward the back of the car until completed. Allow 45 minutes for the first coat to dry and then apply a second coat the exact same way. Remove all painter's tape.
6. Allow a full week for the car to completely dry and the paint to harden. Then buff the car. Use a powered buffer and work in slow circular motions to buff out the shine. Do not push too hard or the paint will burn and come off.
