Keep birds away from your parked car.
While birds can be a pleasant sight in the countryside, pest birds like pigeons and sparrows can make a mess on your property or on your parked car. Scrapes around your side mirrors and white droppings all over your windshield and hood are signs of a bird problem. If you would like to keep birds away from parked cars, there are steps you can take to divert or repulse the birds, and to keep your car dropping-free.
Instructions
1. Place a tarp or vehicle cover over your car to keep birds away from it while it is parked. The cover should cover the entire surface. Shiny parts of the car, such as the mirrors and reflection through the window, will attract birds. A tarp or cover will cover the shiny parts and also protect the car from bird droppings.
2. Place dark colored socks over the side mirrors of your parked car. Many birds will be attracted to the shiny reflections coming from the side mirrors and may perch on the side of the car, peck at the mirrors and leave droppings. Remove the attraction by covering the two mirrors.
3. Get an outdoor cat. For birds in a tree near your driveway, you may be able to control them by releasing a cat into the grounds around your home. The cat will hunt and chase the birds that come to close to the ground around your house.
4. Set up distractions away from your parked car to attract birds. Set up a bird feeder and some mirrors on the other side of your home. This will present a more attractive place for the birds to lurk.
5. Place a bird-scaring device around your car to repel the birds. These devices include large, predator-shaped dummies, and brightly colored foil placed around the area. Audio devices can also be attached on nearby trees or onto your car when it is parked. These emit a high frequency noise that will repel the birds when they activate it.
